Asante Riviera asked:

Arts and crafts have always been popular activities with kids and when you take into consideration how popular Halloween is with kids. (well, the cool kids anyway!) As such, it is no surprise that activities that combine arts and crafts with the season of Halloween are greatly enjoyed and appreciated by kids of all ages. This is why making printable Halloween bingo cards is a lot of fun for children and it also has the ancillary effect of providing a unique learning experience as well.

While may of these printable Halloween bingo cards come already made some of the bingo card sets on the market work is that kids create their own bingo cards either affixing ready made pictures to cards that are made up of either construction paper or even regular paper. Of course, kids can also draw or design their own pictures as well and this can greatly help them explore their own creativity.

One of the problems with a number of games and activities designed for kids is the fact that they are seemingly lacking in creativity and that does not provide much for the kids in terms of helping them to think analytically and creatively. Whoa! That statement seems like a huge stretch in terms of describing the value of printable Halloween bingo cards. Well, if you look at the cards as mere paper cut outs then, yes, it is somewhat understandable how you could arrive at such a conclusion. However, if you look at the underlying creativity beneath the design of the cards then the value of the cards becomes obvious. By exploring creativity in the arts and crafts realm, youngsters get a break from “button pushing” electronic games and instead explore talents that they may not knew they had. Of course, this can be the start of something much more expansive down the road.

Thomas Morva asked:

There are many kinds of ways bingo games are played. One of them is the multi-part bingo game. In this game, each bingo jackpot features three parts. This means that players are in for a three-winner game. Each of these winners gets a guaranteed cash prize each. Multi-part bingo often begins with a simple pattern. The winner gets a corresponding prize. As the game moves on to the next two levels, the difficulty of the pattern increases, but so do the prizes. A person lucky enough to win in the three parts gets the total jackpot money.

Bingo games are organized most of the time by gaming facilities or by communities to raise funds for charitable institutions. The players donate by buying the bingo cards. Thus, the more games you have played, the more you have donated to charity. These games also feature cash prizes for the winners to attract more donors.

But communities such as neighborhoods, associations, and other civic groups and affiliations, organize free bingo games too. They do this to foster community spirit and to facilitate interaction among their members. A bingo social is also a great venue to get everyone to have some good, clean fun.

Free bingo games are also played online. With slight adjustments to the ones played in bingo halls, online bingo games are exciting and thrilling too. Although the prizes are virtual jackpots, the thought of just hitting it can be exciting. What’s better is that you are in the comfort of your home while playing the game. You do not have to venture out just to play your favorite game. And even while traveling, you can still play the game and not miss out playing for the jackpot. From your laptop or notebook, you can join the game while waiting for next flight or while having your coffee.

Sunil Tanna asked:

Most people have played bingo at some point in their lives, but even those of us who have never played the game, generally do know how to play the game.

Traditionally bingo is played using cards containing a grid of squares (usually but not always a grid of 5 X 5 squares), with each square containing a different number. Each player is given one of these bingo cards, and the objective of the game is to mark off a row, column or diagonal of squares (in some versions, the objective is to obtain multiple lines, another square, or even get all squares marked off). Squares on the cards are marked off by the players when the bingo caller (who also acts as referee) calls out the corresponding number.

Bingo has undergone something of a renaissance in popularity in the last few years. While the traditional game remains popular, new variants of bingo are reaching new audiences. In each case, these variants of the game are played using bingo cards containing custom items related to a particular topic, rather than the standard numbered bingo cards.

Some examples include:

- Holiday bingo, using bingo cards with words and phrases themed around a particular holiday be it New Year, Valentine’s Day, July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas.

- Wedding and baby shower bingo is a popular activity on these social events. Bingo cards containing items related to brides, weddings, or babies, are used as applicable.

- Educational bingo is getting more and more popular with teachers. Versions of the game can be produced for almost any type of class including English (including K12 and ESL), math, science, history, geography or even religious studies. Game play may also be varied by the teacher, so for example in math bingo, cards containing math problems may be used and students must write in the answers to these problems rather than simply tick off the squares.

In order to play any of these variants of the game, you will of course need bingo cards printed with the appropriate themed items. These are not always easy to obtain for every possible topic, and even when available can be expensive. Therefore the best option for most people is to simply print them using a computer and appropriate bingo card generator software.

Sunil Tanna asked:

Bingo is a very popular game, and, as a result, virtually everybody knows the rules and how to play the game. Undoubtedly, of course, the simplicity of the rules have contributed to the game’s popularity, but nevertheless it is true that many people love playing the game. Although bingo is traditionally a social activity, particularly for older people, today however it is also finding a place in the classroom.

The basic idea behind introducing bingo into the classroom, is that it provides a fun and interesting activity for students, but the bingo cards, and in some cases the game mechanics, can easily be adapted by the teacher depending on the situation, the particular subject being taught, and the age of the students.

Generally the most common adaptation of the game is simply to vary the content of the bingo cards (so instead of simply containing numbers, the cards contain items chosen by the teacher that relate to the subject in question), although in some cases it may also be necessary to slightly modify the rules of the game as well. Some common educational variants of bingo include:

* Reading bingo or Sight word bingo – This is a game principally for younger students. The cards are printed with words that the students must recognize or find – very often these are words chosen from the Dolch sight word list or similar word lists.

* Math bingo – The bingo cards contain math problems. In order to check off a square on their cards, the students must correctly solve the math problem in that square.

* Foreign language bingo – The bingo are printed with words in one language, and the students must find the matching word when calls are made in another language. This game can be played in French, German, Spanish or Italian classes, and the bingo cards can be in that language, and the calls made in English, or vice-versa.

Sunil Tanna asked:

As you probably know, Saint Valentine’s Day (often known as simply as “Valentine’s Day”) is a holiday celebrated on February 14th. On this day, it is common for lovers to exchange cards, gifts or flowers, for proposals of marriage to be made, and people to give to charity, or give each other candy.

These days of course, children also want to get into the spirit of Saint Valentine’s Day. Kids love to create Valentine’s crafts, send each other Valentine’s Day greeting cards, and play Valentine’s games. Parents and teachers will therefore want to be on the lookout for activities and games that are suitable for February 14th.

One idea for a suitable activity is to play bingo. However, instead of using bingo cards containing numbers, cards containing words chosen specially for the occasion (such as “Admirer”, “Chocolates”, “Cupid”, “Kiss”, “Perfume” or “Sweet Heart”) are used instead. The kids are each given their own bingo card, the teacher or parent acts as caller, and you’re ready to play! The beauty of bingo, is that it’s easy to learn and play, can be tied in with the theme of the day, and, most importantly, is a lot of fun!

Of course in order to play the game, the main obstacle that needs to be overcome is getting suitable bingo cards. In the past, this was often a problem as you had to send off for preprinted cards, and these weren’t always cheap or easy to obtain. Today, however things are much easier – parents and teachers can simply print bingo cards from their computer: free Valentine’s bingo printables are available on the Internet, or you can download affordable and easy-to-use software which makes it incredibly easy to print custom bingo cards.

Sunil Tanna asked:

Christians believe that Jesus was resurrected on the third day after his death by crucifixion. Easter (also known as “Pascha” or “Resurrection Day”) is a Christian festival (arguably the most important festival in the Christian liturgical year) which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As well as referring to this holy day, Easter also refers to the season of the church year (also known as “Eastertide” or “Easter Season”) which encompasses Easter day itself, and the periods before and after (usually a total of forty or fifty days).

The actual date of Easter does vary from year to year, is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar, and has been a matter of controversy among Christians at various times in history. This is because Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover festival, as the Last Supper is generally considered to be a Passover meal, and the date of Passover is itself determined using a lunar calendar. The usual formula used for determing the date of Easter is described as “Easter is observed on the Sunday after the first full moon on or after the day of the vernal equinox”, but even this is a simplification, and since Western and Eastern churches use different calendars (Gregorian and Julian respectively), the matter has not been fully settled to this day.

It should be remembered that while Easter has its origins in Christianity, it has also become a secular holiday too. Most Western countries provide legal holidays around Easter, and this provides a wonderful opportunity for both Christians and non-Christians to get together with family and friends. Kids may of course enjoy eating chocolate eggs, candies and other treats at this time of year, but ideally Easter should be a learning experience too: Christian children should learn about their faith’s religious traditions of course, but children of all faiths can benefit by learning about the history of the holiday.

One fun activity that you may not have considered for the holiday is Easter-themed bingo. Bingo is well suited to holidays in general, and Easter in particular, because the game is easy to a learn, a lot of fun and suitable for people of all ages to play. Older folks will generally enjoy Easter bingo as a leisure activity, but for younger people it can be educational.

What you need to play is some Easter-themed bingo cards, that is to say bingo cards printed up with words and phrases relating to the holiday. Once upon a time you probably would have had to send off to a specialist publisher to get these, and could well have ended up paying an arm and a leg. Today however, you can simply get some bingo card design software, and print as many bingo cards as you want, on any theme or topic at all, from your computer.

Sunil Tanna asked:

While most of tend to think of bingo as a pastime enjoyed purely for leisurely purposes, it is also true that many K-12 teachers have adapted bingo for use in their classrooms. Bingo is today being used to help teach a diverse range of school subjects including reading, English, foreign languages and math.

Education versions of bingo are generally played according to roughly the same rules as the standard game – with the teacher acting as bingo caller, and the students as the players – but they often played with specially modified bingo cards containing items chosen by the teacher rather than the usual numbers. Additionally, in some cases, the teacher may tweak the rules somewhat.

Here are a few ideas for using bingo in lessons:

* Sight word bingo – The bingo cards are printed with words chosen by the teacher (often words from the Dolch sight word list). The teacher reads out a word, and students must find the matching square on their cards.

* Phonemic awareness bingo – The bingo cards are printed with letters. The teacher calls out a word, and students must find the letter which begins that word.

* Vocabulary bingo – The teacher gives a definition for a word, and students must find the square on their card with the matching word

* Parts of speech bingo – The teacher gives a clue for a part of speech (”a verb beginning with T”, etc.) and students must find the square with a matching word.

* Foreign language bingo – The bingo cards are printed with words in the language being taught (French, German, Spanish, etc.), the teacher reads out a word in English, and students must find the matching word. You can also reverse this, so the teacher speaks in a foreign language, and the students must find the matching English word, or you could simply play the entire game in the foreign language.

* Math bingo – The bingo cards are printed with numbers, and the teacher gives a math problem such as simple addition, subtraction, multiplication or division problem. Students must find the square containing the answer to the problem.

* Fraction and Decimals bingo – The bingo cards are printed with fractions and/or decimal numbers. The teacher reads out a number and the students must find the matching square. This doesn’t have to be easy – the student could be required to convert the number between representations such as find the square containing “0.75″ if the teacher says “six eighths”, etc. Obviously teachers can vary the level of difficulty so it is appropriate for their class.

* Rounding bingo – The bingo cards are printed with numbers, and the students must find the matching square when the teacher says something like “two point six rounded to the nearest whole number”, or “twelve rounded to the nearest multiple of ten”.

* History bingo – The bingo cards can be printed with names of historical figures (for example, “Theodore Roosevelt”), events (for example, the “Battle of Gettysburg”), or dates (for example, “December 7th 1941″), and students must find the matching square when given a clue by the teacher.

* Geography bingo – Basically the same idea as history bingo, but using city, state, country or other place names. The teacher can give clues such as “it’s a state on the West coast of the United States and it’s capital is Sacramento”.

* Science bingo – Just like history and geography, bingo can also be used to help students learn key facts about biological, chemistry or physics.

Andrew Fullard asked:

As with any game bingo too has its own set of terms that are commonly used. In this article I will attempt to familiarize you with the common bingo terms you are inevitably going to encounter.

One player: When a player is one number away from winning.
Bingo board: This is the board that displays a random set of numbers, instead of the numbers being called out. This board is usually very large so everyone playing the game can easily view it.

Buy in and minimum buy in: The minimum number of cards that qualify you as a player of the game. The buy in varies with each game. Minimum buy-in is the least amount of money that you will need to spend if you want to enter the game and be counted among one of the contenders for the prize up for grabs.

Caller: This person is an important part of the game however he or she does not play the game. The caller is a person that calls out the numbers as the numbered are drawn.
Coverall: This type of bingo game requires that all the numbers on the bingo card be covered in order to win. This type of bingo is not commonly played.

Dauber: In order to mark the numbers on the bingo card easily a pen with a thick foam tip is used. This pen is called a dauber and is thick enough to mark the whole number easily.
Bingo booklet: This bingo booklet has a number of sheets depending on the game. Each sheet is a different color. These sheets are organized in sequence in which the game will be played.

Six-pack and nine-pack: The number of numbers on a bingo card during a specific game.
Wrap up: This usually means the end of a game. Bingo is played at many times of the day and for each time there is a specific name for example: moonlight bingo which commences with the moon is seen. And the early bird game that starts very early in the morning.

Bingo terminology is fairly easy to pickup as with any other game in bingo you will have to utilize these terms in order to be a respected player. A learner you might forget or substitute the term for another word. But that’s ok as long as you have fun and make lots of friends in the process.

Sunil Tanna asked:

Good teachers are always on the look-out for engaging, interesting and fun educational activities to use in their classes. One such activity that is growing in popularity, is bingo. The reasons for this, are that bingo is very easy to learn and play, adaptable to almost any type of lesson, subject or student age group, and is not requiring of expensive specialist materials. In short, it’s an ideal game for use in schools, colleges and other educational situations.

When bingo is played as an educational game, one of the main differences from traditional bingo is that a different style of bingo cards are used. In traditional bingo, bingo cards containing a 5 X 5 grid of numbers are used. However, in educational versions of bingo, each item on the grid is an item specific to the subject being taught – for example the name of a country, city, mountain or river in a geography class, or the names of different plants or animals in a biology class, and so on. Bingo is suitable for use in a range of subjects across the entire curriculum, but is a particular favorite among math teachers. The most common way to play the game is to use bingo cards containing math questions – students must write in the answers to questions that come up, rather than simply tick off squares, but there are other variations too. Another idea is to use bingo cards containing numbers, and in this case, the teacher calls out math problems (or writes them on the blackboard), and the students must mark off the number which is the solution to the problem.

There’s no limit on the kinds of math classes which bingo can be used for. It’s probably fair to say that it’s most popular as a tool for encouraging practice of basic arithmetic, especially multiplication and multiplication tables. That’s not bingo’s only use though! Another popular activity is bingo using fractions or decimals – in this version students may be required to convert between different representations of the same number (e.g. marking off any of 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, or 0.5, if the teacher calls “a half”).

To play fraction bingo, or in fact any other educational version of bingo, you will of course need the appropriate special bingo cards. Once upon a time, it wasn’t possible to get cards customized to your exact requirements, and the closest thing was preprinted cards from a specialist publisher (which were also often quite expensive). Today however you can simply print bingo cards using your computer – download some bingo card creator software, and it’s a simple job to printed as many cards as you want, whenever you want.

Sunil Tanna asked:

Most of us, are, I think, familiar with the game of bingo. Pretty much everyone knows how to play, even those people who are not dedicated bingo enthusiasts. Something that is less well known, is that modified versions of bingo are nowadays being used in many classrooms to help teach a diverse range of subjects.

One of the biggest challenges facing today’s teachers is how to engage with their students and sustain their interest. The fact that bingo is an enjoyable game can perhaps be of some help. Furthermore, the game play mechanics can easily be adapted or modified by the teacher, depending on the particular subject being taught. Finally, the fact that bingo does not require a large investment in expensive materials or specialist resources is of course important given the financial constraints that most teachers work under.

The most common way to adapt bingo to classroom use, is by varying the contents of the bingo cards. In the standard game of bingo, the cards are generally printed with numbers, however in educational versions of the game the bingo cards are printed with words, phrases, or even math problems of the teacher’s choice. Additionally, game play mechanics may be varied: in an introductory reading class, students may simply be required to simply locate words printed on their cards, but in a language class they may be required to find a French or Spanish word when the teacher says the English equivalent, and in a math class, the students might be required to solve the math problems on their cards as they are called out.
